The King Arthur Carrousel in the center of the Fantasyland hub, right in the middle of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle courtyard. This is one of Disneyland’s original 1955 rides, but the history of this carrousel goes back further. It was built in 1875 and was operating at an amusement park in Canada. Because Walt only wanted horses on his carrousel, he purchased a second carrousel from New York for the additional horses.
Take a seat on one of the 68 wooden hand-carved and hand-painted horses. Listen closely to the organ playing classic Disney songs as your horse glides up and down and around. Enjoy hand-painted portraits from Sleeping Beauty above as your horse circles. For those not wanting to climb up on a horse or move up and down, chariot style benches are available.
Note: This attraction may close intermittently to accommodate fireworks performances.
